After flying high against the Victor Valley Christian Royals last Friday, the Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle came back down to earth. Academy of Careers & Exploration took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. If Academy of Careers & Exploration was looking for revenge after losing 38-30 to them when the teams met on Tuesday, then they'll just have to keep looking.
DeIsis Ross and Sarah Powell certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ross dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds, while Powell scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Ross is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last nine games she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Excelsior Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jazynda Juneau, who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Juneau has scored at least a third of Excelsior Charter's points. Alexys Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Academy of Careers & Exploration's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Excelsior Charter, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Academy of Careers & Exploration does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Excelsior Charter will head out on the road to face off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
