Bridgeport extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Robert C. Byrd Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.
Bridgeport let Peyton Kelley and Avery Humble run wild. Kelley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Humble went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahaylee Messenger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Robert C. Byrd, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.
On Robert C. Byrd's side, Chloe Barlow put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. With that strong performance, Barlow is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lexi Hardy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Sameria Butler also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Coming up, Bridgeport is taking a road trip to challenge Preston at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Robert C. Byrd, they will face off against New London at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
