Football Game Preview: Spring Hill Broncos vs. Ottawa Cyclones

Spring Hill is 8-2 against Ottawa since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Broncos will be playing at home against the Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Spring Hill 13, Ottawa 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Spring Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Piper for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-21 win. The Broncos have beaten the Pirates the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Jordan Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 116 yards and two TDs on only ten passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Hank Kotchavar was another key player, rushing for 124 yards on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Spring Hill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 346 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Spring Hill's defense stepped up as well, laying out Leeum Healy five times. Leading the way was Brooks Bayer with two sacks. Bayer is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Spring Hill got some further help from Kyle Stewart: he made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, Ottawa ended up a good deal behind Eudora on Friday and lost 35-21. The loss was the Cyclones' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Ottawa fell to 3-1. As for Spring Hill, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.
