After a string of three wins, the Mid Valley Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mid Valley of the 41-34 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Mid Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elise Larson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Chiara Zavislak was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Mid Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Riverside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Mid Valley will head out on the road to take on Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Riverside, they will play host again and welcome Blue Ridge, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside is facing Blue Ridge at the right time seeing as Blue Ridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
