Oak Park is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Oxnard.
Tyler Kutsch was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kutsch was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Max Brusca was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-7. Another player making a difference was Tyler Perez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-7.
Even though they lost, Oak Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Moorpark suffered their closest loss since February 21st on Saturday. They fell just short of Camarillo by a score of 5-3. The Musketeers haven't had much luck with the Scorpions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Moorpark also got a good showing from Ronan O'Connell, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. O'Connell has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Moorpark saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Cerny, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Taylor Busch was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Oak Park's record now sits at 4-6-1. As for Moorpark, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Oak Park couldn't quite get it done against Moorpark in their previous matchup on March 7th as they fell 8-3. Can Oak Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
