The Riverside Prep Silver Knights will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Downey Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Riverside Prep barely beat Adelanto the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Riverside Prep's way against Adelanto on Monday as Riverside Prep made off with a 13-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Silver Knights considering their one-run performance the game before.
Cayman Pluma made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Jacob Villegas looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
Back at the plate, Andrew Logsdon was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Bourgeois, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Riverside Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Downey entered their tilt with Los Altos on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Conquerors by a score of 9-4. The matchup marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Jerry Calvert was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Calvert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Sebastian Cortez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Fabian Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Riverside Prep's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Downey, their record is now 4-2.
Riverside Prep took their victory against Downey in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-4. Will Riverside Prep repeat their success, or does Downey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
