The Chester Volcanoes will face off against the Plumas Charter Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chester headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Burney let them put that streak behind them. The Volcanoes walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Raiders on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Volcanoes in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Chase Clark was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grady Klimek, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Plumas Charter entered their tilt with Portola on Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since March 20th.
Jhett Neer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Plumas Charter is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
Neer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dalton Bentz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Bentz is becoming a predictor of Plumas Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Owen Joseph was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Plumas Charter's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four runs across that stretch. As for Chester, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Chester was able to grind out a solid victory over Plumas Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 12-7. Will the Volcanoes repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
