The Branham Bruins are taking a road trip to challenge the Gilroy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Branham will be strutting in after a win while Gilroy will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Branham got the win against Westmont by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Bruins have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Bugliarello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Madelyn Steiner was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Kaitlyn Douglas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Leigh hit Gilroy with a seven-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since February 28, 2025.
Olive Burke and Christy Haro stepped up to the plate in a big way. Burke went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Haro went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Haro is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luxe Enos, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Branham has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gilroy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Gilroy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Branham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gilroy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Branham keep running through batters, or will the Mustangs buck the trend?
