After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forest Hills, the Penn Cambria Panthers were happy to have found some success on Monday. They walked away with a 64-57 victory over Richland. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Penn Cambria found their leader in underclassman Makenna Mccoy, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mccoy has scored all season. Reagan Ronan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Richland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lanie Marshall, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Garnett, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Penn Cambria's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Richland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penn Cambria will square off against Bishop Guilfoyle at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Guilfoyle will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Richland, they will head out on the road to take on Penns Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Penns Valley Area is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
