Trinity hasn't had much luck against IC Catholic Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blazers will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Trinity turned things around against Walther Christian Academy on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Broncos a 15-0 shutout. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blazers yet this season.
Gisella Corral was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Corral was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaida Escanio was a standout: she got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Abby Young was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Trinity hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
IC Catholic Prep let St. Francis stack six runs on them in the second inning on Thursday but luckily IC Catholic Prep prevailed anyway. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Spartans. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Spartans on their field since May 10, 2023.
IC Catholic Prep got a massive performance out of Lexi Russ, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs Russ has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kelly Cahill, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.
IC Catholic Prep's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Trinity, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
