Basketball Recap: Cochranton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cambridge Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cochranton). They came out on top against the Cambridge Springs Devils by a score of 40-30 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cochranton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire McCartney, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 12 points. McCartney is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Irwin, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and five blocks.

Cochranton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 26 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Cochranton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Cambridge Springs, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-4.
