The Poly Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ayala. Poly lost against Ayala in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 40-34 score last time.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nea Denton, who scored 10 points. Denton scored a full 27.8% of Poly's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliet Zaragoza, who scored 7 points.
Poly has fallen quite a ways from their 21-8 record last season and are now at 2-10. As for Ayala, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poly will take on Hillcrest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Ayala will be staying on the road on December 18th to face off against Walnut at 4:45 p.m. on December 18th.
