Mascoutah has gone a perfect 7-0 against Centralia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Orphans at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mascoutah had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Newton on Thursday. The Indians put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 19-9 win.
Centralia not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2025 (when they won 12-1). They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Odin/Patoka/Sandoval. The Orphans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Gabe Houser made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Houser was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Centralia let Michael Organ and Rhett Lambert run wild. Organ got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Lambert went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Lambert has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Dax Snow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Centralia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Odin/Patoka/Sandoval only posted an OBP of .423.
The win got Centralia back to even at 1-1. As for Mascoutah, their record now sits at 2-0.
Everything went Mascoutah's way against Centralia in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Mascoutah made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
