The Coleman Cougars will face off against the Sturgeon Bay Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Coleman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Coleman barely beat Southern Door the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cougars have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Gavin Pusick was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Coleman is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. Pusick was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Wyatt Bieber was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Door only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Sturgeon Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kiel.
Coleman's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Sturgeon Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.
Coleman's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Sturgeon Bay, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Coleman continue to outrun the ball?
Coleman was able to grind out a solid victory over Sturgeon Bay in their previous meeting back in April of 2017, winning 8-4. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Clippers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
