The West Park Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Placer Hillmen on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hillmen by a score of 54-51. West Park has struggled against Placer recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bernadette Davies, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jill Ngo, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
West Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Placer, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.
West Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully West Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday. As for Placer, they will head out on the road to square off against Oakmont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Placer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
