Basketball Recap: Modoc Snags 16th Win in Last 19 Games

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Modoc on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Etna Lions out of the water with a 63-27 final score. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Modoc to victory were Katie Erquiaga and Jordyn Sandage. Erquiaga went 6-for-11 to rack up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, while Sandage went 5-for-12 on her way to 17 points along with six boards and four steals. What's more, Erquiaga also posted a 55% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allie Weber, who posted nine points.

Modoc smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive matchups.

Modoc has been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Etna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Modoc won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fall River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Etna, they will host Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
