The Gridley Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Colusa RedHawks on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 58-49 to the RedHawks. Gridley lost against Colusa in their previous head to head last Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 39-34 score last time.
Gridley's loss came despite strong showings from Brook Marr and AnaGloria Luevano . Marr almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine blocks, while Luevano scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Marr's 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Gridley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Colusa, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gridley is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Marysville at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Marysville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gridley in California (Marysville is ranked 217th, while Gridley is ranked 631st). Colusa will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Nicolaus at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
