The Morse Tigers can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 67-30 win over Academy of Our Lady of Peace on the road. Given Morse's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Pilots are ranked 662nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Morse to victory were Kyla Palpallatoc and Jayla White. Palpallatoc scored 22 points along with six assists and three steals, while White scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Palpallatoc hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Deveney Gonzalez, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alex Morland-tellez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Morse is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
Morse will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Falcons at 6:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Scripps Ranch sitting on four straight victories and the Tigers on three. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they will head out on the road to take on the Dons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral Catholic will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
