The Granite Hills Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Point Loma Pointers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Granite Hills comes in on five and Point Loma on four.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Granite Hills duked it out with Scripps Ranch on Friday. Granite Hills was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Scripps Ranch. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Falcons since March 23, 2017.
Josh Butters tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tommy Entrekin, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anthony Miotti, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Point Loma hadn't done well against Eastlake recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Point Loma sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Eastlake.
Marviel Underwood looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Hunter Reddeg was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Waterman, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Granite Hills pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Point Loma, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Granite Hills might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Point Loma when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will Granite Hills have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
