Bagdad extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 7-15. They lost 18-8 to the Mogollon Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.
Jasmine Mendez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Laramie McQuillan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
As for Mogollon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-15. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Mogollon's side, KADDIE PORTER and TAYLEE REIDHEAD made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, PORTER struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, REIDHEAD tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. At the plate, PORTER went 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while REIDHEAD went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs PORTER has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on HEIDI PORTER, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. AVA PLANTHOLT was another key player, going 1-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bagdad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mogollon, they are taking a road trip to take on St. David at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
