Justin-Siena has gone 9-1 against Sonoma Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Justin-Siena will welcome Sonoma Valley at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Justin-Siena 3.1, Sonoma Valley 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Justin-Siena took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand St. Joseph Notre Dame a 10-0 shutout. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Henry Meyers was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Peter Trovitch looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Xiano Ortega and Tommy Malloy did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Malloy scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Drew Sangiacomo, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Justin-Siena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .263.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Sonoma Valley was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archie Williams.
Sonoma Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Hudspeth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Justin-Siena has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Sonoma Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Sonoma Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Justin-Siena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Sonoma Valley, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Justin-Siena's hitters?
Everything went Justin-Siena's way against Sonoma Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Justin-Siena made off with a 15-5 victory. Does Justin-Siena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sonoma Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
