The Borrego Springs Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Desert Mirage RAMS at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Borrego Springs is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Borrego Springs nor Vincent Memorial made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Scots 7-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Chris Alcaraz and Joey Rocha were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Alcaraz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Rocha pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alcaraz has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Alcaraz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Rocha went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, AB Arambula was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Mirage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Public Safety Academy on Tuesday.
Public Safety Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Alejandro Carmona, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up three walks). Carmona also allowed no hits, which is notable because Desert Mirage is 5-2 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brian Benavides, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Desert Mirage: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-10 otherwise. Steven Cabrera also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Borrego Springs pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Desert Mirage, their record now sits at 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Borrego Springs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Desert Mirage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Borrego Springs couldn't quite get it done against Desert Mirage in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 4-1. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
