Harris County waltzed into their game on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Starr's Mill Panthers. Considering the Tigers have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Madelyn Carey and Riley Huckaby made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Carey pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Huckaby tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Carey went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Huckaby went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those two runs gave Carey a new career-high.
In other batting news, Harris County got a massive performance out of Chloe Wolfenbarger, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Wolfenbarger has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Gatewood, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Harris County's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Starr's Mill, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harris County will host Calvary Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Starr's Mill, they will challenge Northside at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
