After losing to Shalhevet the last time they met, Animo Leadership decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Aztec Eagles blew past the Firehawks 10-4 on Wednesday. Axel Serrano and Alex Jimenez made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Serrano tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Jimenez struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Animo Leadership is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10 otherwise. At bat, Serrano scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Jimenez scored a run while going 1-for-3. Coming up, Animo Leadership will square off against Animo City of Champions at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 24.38 runs per game on average), something the Aztec Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shalhevet, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rolling Hills Prep at 3:00 p.m. on the 28th.
