The Middleburg Broncos will challenge the Stanton Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Middleburg 3.8, Stanton 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Middleburg took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ridgeview, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Broncos have posted against the Panthers since April 29, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Harris Jammes, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Cole Conte was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stanton put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Menendez by a score of 5-2. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Blue Devils have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Dan Exline was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Stanton's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Middleburg, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Middleburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Middleburg came up short against Stanton in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, falling 13-9. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
