After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ramona Convent, the Bishop Conaty-Loretto Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-40 win over Western Christian.
Despite the loss, Western Christian saw an underclassman step up: CeCe Balderrama dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Balderrama scored a full 32.5% of Western Christian's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Erin De Los Reyes, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Western Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Conaty-Loretto and Rio Hondo Prep will face off at 8:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rio Hondo Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Western Christian and Ramona Convent will face off at 9:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
