The Fillmore Flashes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-27 loss at the hands of Carpinteria. Fillmore was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Several Flashes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrea Ramirez, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ramirez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jacqui Ordonez, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Fillmore's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Carpinteria, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fillmore's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hueneme at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hueneme comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Carpinteria, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Malibu at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Malibu is ranked 756th, while Carpinteria is ranked 761st).
