American hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
American will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Kennedy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Titans 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Cooper Rice was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rice was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Rice wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Micah Boo, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Boo has posted since back in March. Another was Eric Keesis, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
American always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic won against Mission San Jose on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Mariners blew past the Warriors 15-1. The Mariners haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Micah Marks made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marks was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Moreau Catholic's win bumped their record up to 9-12-1. As for American, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. American has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Moreau Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
American beat Moreau Catholic 7-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
