Baseball Recap: Design Tech Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Design Tech barely beat Summit Shasta the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons blew past the Black Bears 12-6 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Aidan Tom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Tom was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Design Tech: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Hom, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isaac Gradek, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Design Tech pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Summit Shasta, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Design Tech will venture away from home to square off against Mills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Summit Shasta, they are taking a road trip to challenge KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for the Black Bears and 12 for the Wolfpack.
