Basketball Recap: Clearfield Piles Up the Points Against Bellefonte

Clearfield had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 53-point drubbing they dealt Bellefonte on Wednesday. The Clearfield Bison took their match with ease, bagging a 71-18 victory over the Bellefonte Raiders. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Helsel, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 23 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Helsel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sonny Diehl, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals.

Clearfield pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.2 points. As for Bellefonte, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearfield will square off against Bishop Guilfoyle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Guilfoyle will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Clearfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bellefonte, they will take on Tyrone at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
