Rancho Christian has gone a perfect 9-0 against Vista del Lago recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will square off against the Ravens at 3:15 p.m. Rancho Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Rancho Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 15) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hillcrest 8-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups in a row.
The team relied heavily on Sean Downs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Spencer Horner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Vista del Lago got the win against Perris on Thursday by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the Ravens have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
AJ Nevarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. As a matter of fact, that's the most runs he has scored all season.
At the plate, Alec Bostrom was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Bowman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Vista del Lago's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Rancho Christian, their record now sits at 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rancho Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vista del Lago struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rancho Christian took their victory against Vista del Lago when the teams last played on April 3rd by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
