Chamblee and Tucker are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Chamblee Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Tucker Tigers at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chamblee took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Southwest DeKalb out 10-9. Considering the Bulldogs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Sammy Heetderks was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Travis Sun was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Tucker ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Wesleyan by a score of 9-6.
Harrison Morledge made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alec Waller, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ky Drummond, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Chamblee's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tucker, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
Chamblee came out on top in a nail-biter against Tucker in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Chamblee repeat their success, or does Tucker have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
