Rio Hondo put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past the Bishop Badgers to the tune of 55-20. This was payback for the Bobcats, who suffered a 20-13 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Hondo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mario Lopez, who rushed for 150 yards and five touchdowns. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Lopez a new career-high. Matthew Lopez was another major influence, as he rushed for 32 yards and ran in a TD.
Rio Hondo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaziah Arredondo, Michael Lopez, and Joel Medina picked up one apiece. Medina is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Bishop's side was Marcus Flores, who picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Despite the loss, Bishop still got an impressive performance from Aidan Andalon, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
Rio Hondo's record now sits at 5-0. As for Bishop, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
