Resurrection Christian extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 4-2. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Lyons Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since October 18, 2024.
Savannah Johnson spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Francis, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was MJ Knutson, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Resurrection Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Lyons, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
On Lyons' side, they also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Gretta Wynja gave up just two earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Lyons saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Dickes, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Dickes has hit this season. Ava Vasquez was another, earning two runs and one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Resurrection Christian will take on rival Weld Central at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lyons is set to square off against their familiar foe Brush at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
