After flying high against Galt last Tuesday, Union Mine came back down to earth. The Union Mine Diamondbacks took a 32-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the El Dorado Cougars. The Diamondbacks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 54-39.
Several Diamondbacks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eliza Hodnett, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Kyra Wooden was another key player, putting up five points and 18 boards.
El Dorado can attribute much of their success to Lauren Blankenship, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.
Union Mine's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for El Dorado, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-12.
Coming up, Union Mine will head out on the road to square off against Marysville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
