The Chaparral Pumas will face off against the Mission Viejo Diablos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Chaparral is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 64-14 win over Great Oak. The Pumas have beaten the Wolfpack the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolfpack has come to flipping the script.

Chaparral relied on the efforts of Dane Weber, who threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and Trevor Schneider, who rushed for 200 yards and one score on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Schneider is now averaging an impressive 115 rushing yards per game. Another back making a difference was Talen Ritayik, who rushed for 81 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chaparral was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Another reason for the win was Chaparral's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Jackson Toth was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Chaparral got some further help from Kameron Payne: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Mission Viejo is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of McCallie. The Diablos took a 25-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Tornado. The loss was the Diablos' first of the season.
Defeat or not, Mission Viejo got some senior leadership from Luke Fahey and Davonte Curtis. Fahey rushed for 103 yards on only ten carries, while Curtis rushed for 53 yards and a pair of scores.
The victory got Chaparral back to even at 2-2. As for Mission Viejo, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Chaparral has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 519 total yards per game. However, it's not like Mission Viejo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 363 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Chaparral was taken down by Mission Viejo 51-10 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Pumas have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
