For the first time this season, Monte Vista Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Pacific Grove Breakers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Monte Vista Christian had taken Scotts Valley down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. Monte Vista Christian took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scotts Valley. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Monte Vista Christian got a good showing from Aidan Miller, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Miller has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyson Shaw was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikie Melenudo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Monte Vista Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pacific Grove lost 8-2 to Christopher on Thursday. The Breakers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Rowen Meyer put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pacific Grove is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Meyer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Monte Vista Christian's record now sits at 7-2. As for Pacific Grove, their record is now 2-5.
Pacific Grove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monte Vista Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. It's a different story for Pacific Grove, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Monte Vista Christian's hitters?
Everything went Monte Vista Christian's way against Pacific Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Monte Vista Christian made off with a 12-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monte Vista Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
