The Mountain Island Charter Raptor lost against the Corvian Community Cardinals back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Mountain Island Charter was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 31-30 to Corvian Community.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Island Charter saw an underclassman step up: Tarriah Washington scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Mountain Island Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Cooke, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Corvian Community's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Catherine Wheatley, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Emily Johnson, who scored six points.
Mountain Island Charter's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Corvian Community, they pushed their record up to 4-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Island Charter will take on Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Charter will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Corvian Community, they will be playing at home against Bradford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
