After a string of three wins, the Sharpsville Blue Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sharon. Sharpsville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sharon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Sharpsville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Palko, who scored 26 points. Another player making a difference was Macie Steiner, who scored 19 points.
Sharpsville now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Sharon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharpsville will take on Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wilmington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sharpsville in Pennsylvania (Wilmington is ranked 148th, while Sharpsville is ranked 411th). Sharon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Slippery Rock at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th.
