Basketball Game Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. La Serna Lancers

The Whittier Christian Heralds will square off against the La Serna Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whittier Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Edison on Thursday as Whittier Christian made off with a 56-32 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Heralds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Whittier Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Tremper, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those 21 points gave Tremper a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Hinostro, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led La Serna over Valley Christian in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. La Serna took down Valley Christian 53-34. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Defenders are ranked 480th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for La Serna, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
