If the Loyalton Grizzlies were feeling good off their 55-21 takedown of the Princeton Eagles last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Loyalton took a 47-28 bruising from the Tigers on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Loyalton in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Loyalton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sophie Holland, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ellie Weaver, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Loyalton's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Portola, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Quincy the next time they take the court. Loyalton will head out to face the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
