They took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Highland Tech of the 55-34 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 5th.
Despite the loss, Highland Tech still got an impressive performance from Addie McCraw, who scored 15 points. McCraw's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight.
Leading Thomas Jefferson to victory were Brooklyn Twitty and Samara Jones. Twitty dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Jones scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Maddie Connor was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Highland Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Thomas Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Tech won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sugar Creek at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Sugar Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Highland Tech is ranked 279th). As for Thomas Jefferson, they will be playing at home against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pinnacle Classical Academy comes in on five and Thomas Jefferson on six.
