The South Tahoe Vikings and the Truckee Wolverines will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully South Tahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
After a string of three wins, South Tahoe's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 61-49 to North Valleys.
South Tahoe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Ava Wolfe who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Wolfe pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Truckee can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hug and snuck past 32-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Truckee has posted yet this season.
Truckee's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emma Jones, who scored 11 points, and Sophia Killian, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Killian scored 15 or more points.
South Tahoe's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Truckee, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.
South Tahoe strolled past Truckee when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 53-38. Will South Tahoe repeat their success, or does Truckee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
