Make it eight blowout wins for the Garey Vikings this season. They blew past Edgewood 62-37. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-12.
Armani Owens was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. Owens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah (AJ) Jones, who scored eight points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Garey is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Edgewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Garey will be playing in front of their home fans against La Puente at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. La Puente will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1315th, while Garey is ranked 561st). As for Edgewood, they will head out on the road to take on Bassett at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Bassett is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
