The Pinewood Panthers stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Notre Dame 71-34 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Pinewood who now have eight in a row.
Pinewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Facelo out in front who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. Facelo hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Kramer, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and nine assists.
Notre Dame's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vivana Martinez, who scored 11 points. Martinez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sammy Kakala, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Pinewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Notre Dame, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Pinewood will be playing in front of their home fans against Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinewood is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Menlo School a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Notre Dame, they will head out on the road to square off against Priory at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Priory is ranked 124th).
