Algona took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Newman Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Knights 6-5 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Algona's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Newman Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.

Coming up, Algona will venture away from home to challenge Clear Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newman Catholic, they will challenge Nashua-Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
