The Huntington North Vikings can finally bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Bend Adams 61-59. That 61-59 margin sets a new team best for Huntington North this season.
Huntington North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dalton Husband, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and five assists. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Double, who scored 14 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jarvis Tolbert, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Tolbert scored a full 42.4% of South Bend Adams' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amari Wesson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Huntington North's victory bumped their record up to 1-7. As for South Bend Adams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing East Chicago Central the next time they take the court. South Bend Adams will host East Chicago Central at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Huntington North will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
