Softball Recap: Marian Has No Trouble Against Burke

Marian waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Burke Bulldogs. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Crusaders this season.

Madi Pick looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Amelia Spieker and Brooklyn Kincaid did most of the damage at the plate: Spieker went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Kincaid went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two RBI gave Spieker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Millie Sutko, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Marian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burke only posted an OBP of .438.

Marian's record now sits at 4-2. As for Burke, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Marian will square off against Millard North at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Burke has already played their next game (against Papillion-LaVista South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
