The Raymond Central Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Raymond Central has not done well against Louisville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Raymond Central blew past Louisville, posting a 62-27 win at home. Given Raymond Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Louisville is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fort Calhoun can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 55-19 win over Nebraska City. With Fort Calhoun ahead 42-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Calhoun to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raeann Massey, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Ansley Elofson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Raymond Central and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Fort Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
Raymond Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Calhoun in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 57-49. Will Raymond Central repeat their success, or does Fort Calhoun have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
