The Southlake Carroll Dragons will take on the Longview Lobos at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southlake Carroll knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Longview likes a good challenge.

Angelo Renda was his usual excellent self, rushing for 161 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 105 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Christian Glenn also helped with three touchdowns in total.
Another reason for the win was Southlake Carroll's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. Jake Lucky was especially locked on to Guyer's QB and sacked him twice. Parker Harris was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.
On Saturday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Longview blew past DeSoto 50-14. The match marked the Lobos' most dominant win of the season.
Southlake Carroll better keep an eye on Kelvin Washington. He was instrumental in Longview's win, rushing for 273 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Washington really tore up the turf during one magnificent 94-yard run. Johnny Hamilton was another key player, rushing for 87 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Longview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 442 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DeSoto only rushed for 153 rushing yards.
Longview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Da'Kayden Carter and Kason Brooks. Carter has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Another thorn in DeSoto's side was Bryan Peoples, who made 13 total tackles and defended two passes.
The victory (which was Longview's tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points per game. As for Southlake Carroll, their record is now 14-0.
Saturday's contest might be decided in the on the ground. Southlake Carroll has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Longview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 270.4 rushing yards. It's looking like Saturday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
